Our Miracle is One

I can't believe that a year ago today I was 32 weeks pregnant and rushing to the hospital because I was in labor. I am amazed when I look back on inspired doctors and nurses that did things they felt was right to help save our little guy. This last year has been crazy and very hard at times, but has been worth every second to have Gabe in our lives. He is an absolute blessing.

This was him a year ago today.

This is him today.

When I think of all that we went through with him I still get emotional. Having him in the NICU for 5 weeks was the hardest thing I have ever been through. I am very grateful that I am fortunate to live in this day and age with so much knowledge and technology. I wouldn't have any kids today without the hospitals, doctors, and information that we have now. Neither of them would've made it without all of these amazing tools and things we have. I am feeling very blessed today. I am so grateful for all that I have, especially my family. Happy Birthday Gabe! We love you FOREVER!

Smarty Pants

This picture makes me laugh so hard! I caught Ty one morning pretending that he was reading a book and typing while wearing my glasses, he is always trying to act older than he really is! Just recently he has taken off with a lot of things, especially talking. He loves to repeat anything that you say to him. He is also starting to remember words to songs and loves to say them himself at times. He wants to try everything on his own first, which is cute but can also be frustrating ...especially when he gets really upset with himself if he can't do what he is trying to do.
I really do love that he is wanting to learn and do things on his own. Its really exciting for me to watch him grow and progress, can it slow down a little bit though?!

Some Things I Want To Remember:
1. A few favorite things he says: okay (wokay) sorry, thanks, welcome, not so
2. He thinks time out is a game
3. All he drinks is juice
4. He lights up when Gabe wakes up
5. He loves to try on adult shoes and walk around
6. When he says "yah" he holds it for about 5 seconds. Everytime.
7. He calls me Heather (heaher)
8. He says "No No Ty" to everyone
9. Everything is "Mine!"
10. All he wants to do is be outside
11. He LOVES going to bed

I LOVE this little guy that thinks he is a lot older than he really is so so much!

Ty is Two

Our little Ty turned two! I seriously couldn't sleep the night before because I was so excited for him to wake up and open his presents. He seemed to love all of his gifts but the best reaction goes to his tricycle and the most played with would be his backpack that he wore basically all day!

I am glad we kept the day simple because he was so happy to have McDonalds for lunch and spend most of the day at the park. Easy for me, fun for him!

I know Mom's are always saying how they can't believe how quickly their kids grow up, but it is SO true! I can't believe that it has been two years since we had this angel and brought him home. It is the most rewarding thing to be a Mom, especially on days like this. Ty has not hit the "terrible two's" yet, he is still the most sweetest and sensitive kid ever. He seriously seems to be so sincere with everything he says and does, I hope he stays that way forever!

Pictures

I had the boys pictures taken a few weeks ago. Chelsey was amazing and we had a lot of fun dressing them up and switching around props. Ty was being a little stinker so we didn't get a ton of him smiling, but a few was enough. Gabe was adorable, it must be his age because he was a lot easier to work with. I seriously look at these pictures every day, I am obsessed with how good they turned out! Love my boys! They are in no particular order, Enjoy!

Cancun: Casa Maya

We stayed at Casa Maya for the second half of our trip. We absolutely loved this place! It was more of a "family environment" so we loved hanging around the resort. Our favorite thing to do there was play sand volleyball, I have never gotten into volleyball but now I am thinking I should! I loved it!! Another thing we loved was our big room, we had a half kitchen which was so nice because we were able to eat breakfast and most of our lunches there.

We had this crazy night where everything seemed to go wrong. I was feeling extra emotional and missing our boys a lot so we decided to skype before we went out. We couldn't get a good connection so we went out by the pool to try again. We got a good connection, but started losing battery power so while I was on skype with them I started walking quickly inside ...well I forgot that there were stairs and ran right into those hard cement suckers. My computer went flying and I tripped and fell to the floor. We had a nice little audience of old people that came rushing over because they were so concerned. I felt so stupid so I just laid on the floor sobbing and laughing at the same time. Then to make things even more intense than it needed to be, security came running out and got a chair for me to sit in and put my leg up. They treated my toe like I was going to get it amputated, for a second there I thought that might be the case! Luckily all it needed was some intense cleaning and a bandage.

Once I became mobile and emotionally stable, we went out for the night. For some reason we did a lot of walking which wasn't fun since I was seriously wobbling. (I think all the work they did on my toe got to my head) Anyways, we decided to eat at Hard Rock Cafe and split a meal like we usually do. Well, the waitress did not like the fact that we were splitting a meal and she let us know it! Besides rolling her eyes and being short with us because of our questions, when we asked for water she brought out two bottled waters that cost more than soda. Danny told her we just wanted water in a cup and I thought she was going to kick us out of that place! Seriously! Finally we got our dinner and it seemed like no one spit in it so we ate it. When we were getting close to leaving Danny started looking for his flip flops (he took them off and put his feet up on the bench during the meal) but he couldn't find them. Then he found one but only one. After searching for a few minutes with no luck, we came to the conclusion that someone stole his flip flop. Why would someone just steal one flip flop? Oh wait ... our waitress. We just KNEW it was her, especially since how she was treating us and at one point I saw her pointing to our table and laughing while she talked with her co-workers. I was annoyed, but I also thought it was kind of funny. Danny was not happy! At one point, the manager walked by and Danny talked with him and flat out blamed everything on the waitress. A few minutes went by and then we saw six workers singing and walking over to our table. They had a tequila shot on fire and a gift bag for us. They were pretty bummed when we told them we didn't drink, but we were really happy when we found his other flip flop in the bag. I could not stop laughing!! It really was so funny!

So it wasn't the waitress that stole it, it was the hostess that Danny had been joking around with when we first walked in. She thought she was hilarious, I thought it was pretty clever. I hope I explained it well enough because it really was so funny! We couldn't stop laughing about it after we left.

There are so many other random and fun stories I could tell. This was such a fun trip! I feel like we haven't really been able to relax since everything happened with Gabe last year. This was just what we needed, a relaxing week by the beach. Whether its a vacation, weekend getaway, or a date night, there is nothing better than spending quality time with your best friend.

...I am just really glad that we were able to do a vacation this time.

Cancun: Xcaret

Going to Xcaret was one of our favorite days. There were so many things to see and do! This place was huge, we spent the whole day here and still weren't able to do everything. But we loved all the things we were able to do.

Dan's favorite thing was all the ladies, he couldn't get enough of them! These pictures make me laugh so hard :)
They had a lot of cool shows. There night show was awesome, it had some boring parts, but it was really cool to learn about different cultures and to see all the crazy stuff they used to do. Their costumes were crazy, some of them just had body paint all over them like the guy on the right.

They had this underground house/mansion thing. It was pretty neat but I hate being below the ground, I am always convinced an earthquake is going to happen when I am down below. I bet a lot of people felt that way so thats why they had all this super old wine stashed down there :) Some of them had like an inch of dust on them!

That was a real tree. It's roots are hanging from the ceiling!

Here is another fun costume. When the guy crouches down like this he looks like an owl... Thats what we are trying to be, but I think thats what you do to look like a raccoon...

We spent the majority of the day snorkeling. I wish I would've taken more pictures, but it seems like at the best times you forget to take a picture because you are enjoying yourself so much! Snorkeling at Xcaret was a lot of fun. I am pretty sure I saw an eel. It had red/yellowish eyes, creepy! I feel like I enjoyed snorkeling here the most because I felt safe. There were a lot of people around and you didn't have to swim too far from land to find awesome fish. That's my kind of snorkeling!
